first post! WOOT!

well hello friends and family! this is my very first blogging experience and, i must admit, i'm a little nervous. i've long admired those who have had blogs past and present and can keep them updated (and keep people interested). i'll do my best to post regularly, mom!

the title of this blog is quite self-explanatory. i don't really know much about the origins of the "charlie" name...i think she was a country music singer popular around the time i was born? i'm not certain. but my dad has called me charlie since i can remember and it really warms my heart.
anyhow...

the creation of this blog is actually long overdue as i meant to get it up and running last year but, with the constant weight of schoolwork, the blog was never launched. sigh...
i'm not that creative of a writer, nor do i pay much attention to grammar or punctuation so please bear with me!

as you all know, i've been living in vancouver for nearly a year and a half now. how did i get here? well, those of you who know me well are probably aware of my periodic melt-downs...some of which trigger life-changing decisions to be made...thus, the relocation from calgary to vancouver in january, 2010.  i decided to enrol in the fashion design program at blanche macdonald centre. what the heck, hey? i have always dreamed of working in fashion and, after evaluating my life and its direction (or lack thereof) i made the move across the rockies and haven't looked back since. it was the best meltdown-induced-decision i've ever made.

i completed the design program mid-november and, since then, have been busy creating my own clothing line. this has not been an easy process. everyday is a new day filled with feats and defeats to face. up's and down's that constantly force me to evaluate and reevaluate every decision i make. i'm working for myself which is, in itself, a terrifying and exciting experience all at the same time. i am my own boss. turns out, i'm quite the b*tch. i have poured my heart and soul into my line, seven days a week, for the last four months. finally, last week, my first full collection was completed for Fall/Winter 2011. i couldn't have ever made it this far without an amazing group of friends and my family helping me out and guiding me along the way. i'd like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has offered their help, support and love. you know who you are and i'll write more at a later date, but my sincerest of thanks goes out to everyone who has helped make my dream a reality.

so that pretty much brings us up to speed! i have a number of photos documenting my year in school and these past few months and i'll be posting these as often as possible.

here we go! allons-y! xo
